World-famous Simple Minds drummer Mel Gaynor introduces his new band Risk with their exhilarating first single ‘Run’ and UK tour. 

Mel Gaynor yearned for full creative control, now songwriting, singing lead vocals and playing drums for his five-piece band. 

Joined by Through Infinity, a Croatian rock act led by guitarist Josip Pesut, who is set on a journey to deliver his late mother's visual paintings in musical form. 
MAKING HISTORY
Simple Minds legendary drummer Mel Gaynor introduces his new band Risk with their stirring first single ‘Run’. Mel handles lead vocal duties for the band, setting the tone with his emotive vocals and flamboyant drumming style along with blues guitarist James Ford and bassist Sarit Black adding even more musical muscle.

‘Run’ is the first offering from the long-awaited album titled ‘Come With Me’, written and produced by Mel himself.

Risk are currently putting the finishing touches on their new album due for release later this year and are set to embark on an extensive headline tour across the UK. Playing a mixture of songs from their new album along with certain Simple Minds classics.

24 date UK tour - how this came about

Mel Gaynor’s music career started in the 70’s rock band Samson which included none other than Bruce Dickinson in their lineup. After Mels tenure with Samson he joined forces with Simple Minds on their critically acclaimed album ‘New Gold Dream’ touring the album in 1982. The rest is history. Mel joined the band full time, playing together for more than 35 years. 

The talented guitarist, James Ford is a successful session musician who has toured all around the world with several well-known bands. The multi-faceted bassist, Sarit Black studied in ballet, theatre, tap, jazz & modern dance, moving onto drums and percussion, then honing his skills on the bass, playing as a founding member in Manchester’s avant-garde rock band David R Black. Influenced by Rush, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd along with recent artists like Billie Eilish and Royal Blood, which adds more depth to their unique sound.

Croatian rockers Through Infinity are set to embark on a 24 date UK tour starting at the Fiery Bird in Woking on Saturday 2nd May 2020 and ending at The Booking Hall in Dover on Saturday 20th May. The band are joining the legendary Simple Minds drummer Mel Gaynor with his new project ‘Mel Gaynor’s Risk’. The band have had success within Croatia and throughout eastern Europe, racking up over a million views on YouTube.

Through Infinity were influenced by the bands front man Josip Pešut late mothers paintings. Giving birth to an album based on the representation of these visuial painting in musical form. This will be heard in their set as they play the tracks from their up coming album 'Afterlife'.
